Diseases Related to Bird Droppings

Rock Doves (Pigeons) and Gulls, like other nuisance birds, carry many diseases and parasites; which are passed when they defecate. These droppings are nutrient rich and are a perfect breeding ground for bacteria and infections to humans. Common disease causing organisms found in nuisance bird droppings are E.Coli, Cryptococossis, and Histoplasmosis; as well as salmonella.

If dried bird droppings are disturbed, microscopic particles that contain harmful bacteria can become airborne and be drawn into air ducts and vents that are often located on rooftops. Employees can then be at risk of inhaling these particles into their lungs- a moist and warm environment that makes perfect breeding grounds for infectious agents. These particles could also land in open cuts or wounds, which would then make them susceptible to infection and illness.

We provide solutions to prevent nuisance birds from roosting or nesting on buildings; such as bird spikes, bird slides, and netting.
